Location of Weltmeister Decal on RHD 1971 911s

Does anybody know on which side of the lower part of the front windshield the weltmeister decal is located on right hand drive 911s such as those delivered to the UK and Australia.

On left hand drive 911s the decal was located on the lower right hand side of windshield.

    Thanks.

I beleive it was placed always on passenger side.

Autocar UK test 2.2E march 1970:

    -

The earlyregistry website states Weltmeister decal 1 (empty) and 2 (69/70) are both located on lower front windshield
but this factory shot below shows late 71 models got the 69/70 decal already on rear back quarter glass.

IIRC, 69 & 70 were on the passenger side lower windsheild and the 71 was on rear quarter.

    Karim,

Thanks very much for the information. Very helpful.

I wonder when in late '71 the sticker / decal was moved to the rear quarter glass. Late would be sometime around june / july 1971? August 1971 being the start of the 1972 model year.

As my car was delivered to the customer on the 30th of July 1971, it sits right on the point where the decal could have been in either location.

My chassis number is 9111200764. I will have to make an educated guess based on the known build dates of other cars on the registery.

    Regards,

    Norbert.

Joe, thats what everybody thought but factory photos prove its not precise info.
The 69 & 70 can either be placed on front windshield OR rear quarter window.

The reason I beleive it was moved to rear quarter window was that several RoW countrys (UK, France) had a system of highway tax/parking decals placed for visibility control on front windshields and so the factory decided probably to not interfere with that location.

Norbert, all I know is above factory shot of a 71MY (source: Brian Long's book) are usually taken in spring, around April/May.
At least this indicates the vegetation and the fact that factory (press) photos needed usually to be done a few months prior to MY dealer delivery.

My '70 no longer has its original windshield nor does it have a Weltmeister decal, which led me to believe that's where it was affixed. It's nice to know that I have the option of putting one on the rear quarter window, where it will be less obviously a reproduction.

    Thanks,
    Ed

    All,

    Thanks very for the information.

Looks like it should be on the rear quarter glass for my car.

My 1971 T had it in the passenger side lower windshield. However, I also know of later '71's with it on the rear.

But, I don't know when the early/late cross over occured.
