    Cigarette lighter

    Hello.
I have 72 911S. My cigarette lighter does not have power. On the electric diagram II, there must be a disconnection between the 85(6-point connection) and the lighter as I checked the connection between the fuse and 85 which is ok, the connection between 85 and the lighter which is no.
I would like to check whether the cable between 85 and the lghter, but can not access to the back of the lghter.
Could you tell me how to remove or access to the lighter?

    Thank you.
    Takahiro.

You will have to remove the heater/vent control unit to access the connections at the cigarette lighter. I currently have the dash pad out of my 72 T if you need anymore info.

gsjohnson, thank you for your reply.
But what part shoul I start with? I do not have any ideas of how to disassemble these parts.
Do you think we can access to the connection of the lighter through the speaker hole? I don not know how to remove the speaker cover either.

If your car is original and correct the speaker grill is just held in with four snap pins, one at each corner. With plastic spatula (like a putty knife) you carefully pry up one end and it will just lift out.

Thank you for your replies, guys.
I could access to the lighter with removing the heater unit. Removing the heater unit was not hard for me.
I found the reason why the lighter did not have the power. The black cable was not placed in the end of the lighter.

I just found the same problem on my 1972 car and fixed it before seeing this thread... Must be common. I think mine was caused by a previous owner's clumsy replacement of the dashboard speaker.
