    Help with plating of parts

I am trying to locate a good person or company who does the OEM gold anodizing. It is for the alternator housing belt.

If anyone knows people who do this, please let me now.

    thanks

Eric Shea (Neunelfer here) of PMB Performance plates a lot of parts on a regular basis. He would be a good one to contact regarding this.

Here is another source--I have had a lot of success with KPC Southern. I have had them anodize a lot of parts for my 911. Some silver colored, and some yellow, depending on the application. I had my fan belt holder and bolt yellow anodized.

    Talk to June.

    Anodizing is done on aluminum.

All of the plating done on these earlier cars has generally been Cad. Cad. is becoming more and more difficult to find due to environmental regulations. Zinc is an alternative and can be nearly identical when done properly. We do mostly zinc but we can do Cad upon request.

I'm currently experimenting with calipers which were a clear Cad. with a dichromate wash. Based upon the type and amount of dichromate, this gave them a slightly yellow/greenish/rainbow tint.

In simple terms, "Gold" plating can be accomplished using yellow cad or yellow zinc chromate. The later is slighlty less iridescent. Silver plating can be silver cad or clear zinc. Both types of Cad plating are available at Aero Propeller, 9616 Metro Airport Ave., Hangar #44, Broomfield, CO 80021, 303-469-1749. The two types of zinc plating are available at most plating companies. Be aware that there is a minimum charge of $85.00, + shipping & EPA disposal fees at Aero Propeller. They provide excellent service and results.
