I would appreciate the experienced opinion and input from those in the know. After researching (with some controversy), this is our current attempt. Do the blacked out areas look correct?
Thanks.

There always seems to be controversy. In these situations I tend to defer to the guys who have the most experience. Kevin Jeannette is one of those guys and they are doing an RS right now that should help you. Go to Projects page. Good luck!www.gunnar@gunnarracing.com

Gunnar does exquisite work but that particular car was one that was controversial in terms of the "blacked out" sections.
Frank,
As its a touring should have the black deadener on the floors and hence there wasn't a lot of colour showing anyway
I'll take some more inside pics of a totally original RS #197 also touring and post this afternoon.
My recollection of RS 101 was all the dash top was matt black.

Frank,
Did you guys use black paint in the pivot areas for the the rear seats? Those areas seem to painted in photos in the linked thread.

Clyde, please post here. I am very interested in any original pics of interior black overpaint. Although the car I am restoring is a 72, it would give me another reference point.
Thanks!
Guru
PS Frank: for what it's worth, I got some useful info out of this other thread when I asked questions about my 72 car:
