68 911 Sporto on Life Support

Ok, I've been lurking for years, occasionaly speaking up but now I have a question. I have a 68 911 Sporto that has been sitting in my garage for about 4 years. Before that it had been sitting in the open in the gulf coast of Texas for about 20 years. Does the term 'rust bucket' come to mind? I am in the process of replacing the suspension pan and the the fuel tank support. I removed part of the tank support to get a look at the condition of the hidden portion of the suspension pan. If you look at the picture, past the rust, yes, those are sunflower seeds.

But also, at the suspension attachment point there is an extra metal reinforcement (seen in the photo between the two aft bolts) while on the Dansk replacement part I have there is no such extra piece. I have checked the part number on the replacement part and it is correct for this car. Should I be concerned?

Second, what is the paint these replacement parts come with? Does it need to be removed and proper primer sprayed on (except for the weld area of course)?

    Thanks in advance!

    Tony

You have to purchase those parts separately. They don't come with any of the replacement panels. The part number is 901-501-427-21-GRV Here's the link to Stoddard's site.

    Thanks Mike,
That became more obvious after I cleaned up all the debris but thanks for the link and the confirmation!
