    Speed week...

    Hi, John,

    We're there!

I was a little concerned about the future of this gig - this is great news. When/where can I fill out media/vendor registration? Do you know?

    Cheers
    R/Thom

    2009 Coronado Vintage Races-Coronado Island...

John...We are about 6-8 cars going down for this event...Last year you "fixed-us-up" with super-duper parking passes for the Porsche corral...if this is possible this year again, it would be fantastic...I can distribute to the "crowd" in this area as last year, if you like...Thanks / Lars...

I just got this email from Cris.

    John

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Dear HMSA Member

Late last year the Fleet Week Foundation San Diego decided to put the Coronado Speed Festival event out to bid. The Foundation was looking for specific changes to the event to meet the requests the Navy had made. The Speed Festival was created to benefit the men and women of the military and the Navy has specific thoughts on what they are looking for to entertain our troops.

Today we announce that HMSA, have been chosen by the Fleet Week Foundation as the sanctioning body for the Coronado Speed Festival. This award is an honor and deeply appreciated. The opportunity to continue this event is exciting. HMSA will produce an event that will feel the same as in the past yet be different enough to meet the objectives and goals of the military.

One of the challenges we face this year is a scheduling conflict with the CSRG Charity Challenge held at Infineon Raceway on the same weekend. In an effort to avoid diminishing the participant count at both events, and to address the interests the Navy has expressed, we have chosen to focus on cars not normally seen at HMSA events. Our groups will be, stock cars, IMSA GTO thru 1991, Formula Atlantic thru 1980, Formula Ford thru 1972, production cars from 1956 thru 1966, Historic TransAm, FIA World Manufacturers Championship cars thru 1984, Sports Racing cars of the ‘50s and ‘60s.

We will be announcing the featured marque in a few days.

The entry form for the Coronado Speed Festival is attached to this email. If you would like a hard copy mailed to you please let us know. The completed entry form may be emailed or faxed back to the HMSA office at 818-249-4917. We would prefer to receive a photo of you car via email. We will keep your photo on file for future use. We will have an on-line entry available by June 19th. In the event you have participated in an HMSA event within the past 12 months you may enter on line. There will be a link to access the on-line entry from the HMSA home web page www.hmsausa.com. It is our goal and commitment to you, the participant and your crew, to make the paperwork side of the event as painless as possible and the racing part the most enjoyable you have experienced in the country.

We are extremely excited about our involvement in the Coronado Speed Festival and look forward to seeing you there.

    Sincerely

    Cris Vandagriff
