Ex-Siffert/Hermann 910 this weekend at Sears Point

I just completed a dialog with Thor Johnson from Seattle, who has entered his recently purchased 1967 Sebring 2nd in class 910 to the CSRG races at Infineon (Sears Point dammit!) this weekend. The car was driven by Jo Siffert/Hans Hermann for that event.

Thor says it's been under wraps for 18 years so it may still have some interesting "cobwebs". You know the sort of old things that tend to eventually get discarded when race-cars are freshened-up.

While we don't have lots of entries (about 155 cars) they are an eclectic bunch ranging from pre war blown Alfas to a Maserati 250F, Zagato Aston Martin, Maserati 200si, a gaggle of 356s, 911s, & 912s and the usual suspects.

Perhaps we'll see you there? Look us up - car #902, blue 912. We should be near the Business Center.

Been looking forward to this event for months. The season's first CSRG happening always marks winter's end on my personal calender.

I would be happy to take tons of photos and post a "trip report" Saturday evening.....really looking forward to hearing the 910 as well.

    See you there.

There are perks to living in the bay area, and this weekends CSRG gathering well defines all that is good about northern California. The weather....perfect,
the usual delightful people, but it's the cars that are the real draw.

As Thornton said, Thor's 910 was there, and what a mchine it is. It's the first time I really had the chance to closely look a 910 over and learn about it from a knowledgable, patient, and very sympathetic owner who answered every one of my many questions.

Too bad I can't let you hear the sound. Simply electrifying. 2.0 liters, High-compression, twin-plug, mechanical injection, titanium rods, headers and other-worldly throttle response. This is a very fast car.

    Enjoy the photos

In addition to the 910 there were a couple of other noteworthy 911s. The red '68 lightweight ex-Waldegard rally car has been lowered for track work, and the engine rebuilt to higher output specs. Beautifully prepared !

forgive the "two-tone" paint. It really isnt, but the red awning plays horrible tricks on the white-balance and color fidelity.

Before Chuck throws me off for using way more than my share of bandwidth, one more batch of a car that may not belong here, but then on the other hand, how often to you get to see and hear a real ex-Chris Amon McLaren M-1-B, in in the flesh. Actually, you don't so much hear it as feel the sound in your very bones. The noise is shattering.
