    stainless steel muffler

I just bought and installed a pair of the SSI heat exchangers. What a beautifully made product. The welds, the bends and the exact fit were perfect.

Does anyone know of a vendor that has stainless steel mufflers for sale.? I think it would produce some nice sounds!!

    Sure JL,

Dansk makes 'polished stainless' '65-'73 single, double, and 'sport' exit mufflers.

    In the Performance cat. I have here at work it's #900128 single / #900127 double / #912939 sport .......

    However,

I believe starting with 2.4's the factory made optional stainless stock mufflers.

I turned down a factory NOS stainless muffler about 15 years ago because I thought it was too expensive at about $700........

    .... and so it goes....

    Hope this helps,
    Cheers

    Hi Chuck,

Do you happen to remember if the optional Stainless muffler was a Leistritz or Bischoff? Would you have a part number?

    Thanks,

    Thanks,
Bert, here is the info on my Leistritz stainless "replacement" muffler. It has the correct crinkle in the output elbow bend for early cars and I believe factory installed mufflers would have a part # starting with 911 and not the typ 911 as on my replacement. The 09/76 is the date code.

    Made in W/Germany B Nr 4210783 09/76 Typ 911 Herst Leistritz Nurnberg

Thanks David. I will go out to the garage tomorrow and check my extra muffler.

My SS M&K muffler is on its way. I will have it installed next week. I have been told its quality is outstanding. Here is a pic:

Dual outlet sport muffs are LOUD. BTW, you can make one.....mild steel is fine unless you live in a rust prone area, but the you wouldn't be driving it in the wet....

I would aslo leave the stock tip as you will likely have to cap one or both for street and some tracks.
