Thanks for the info. I saw this picture with the frame and was curious about it. It looks like a Porsche crest on the frame.

That's a still from Bullitt, made in '68, if I recall correctly.

Can't help with the origins of the plate, I'm afraid!

According to this article, "D.D. Michelmore was a Reseda (California) Porsche dealer, a Porsche RS Spyder racer and President of Cal Club for several years before it became an SCCA Region."

Read more about "Mich" and his son, John, in this article, under the heading "Gear Box by Elva Foure" (an article about the 10th running of the Santa Barbara Road Races in 1958 - a who's who of future significant auto racers):

This frame also appears in a road test of a 356B Super 90 in Motor Life of July '61 which is in a Brooklands Gold portfolio reprint.
The top of the frame reads Reseda and the bottom reads Michelmore.
The 356 register guys may have further info if you want.

What's cooler about this photo imo is the mobile phone that McQueen is using. You can buy a repro here http://www.retrowow.co.uk/retro_tech...ile_phone.html

    Michelmore . . .

As seen on an original family-owned '65 Karmann-Ghia, shown at the 14th Annual Treffen, in Ventura . . .

    http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...fen-Ventura-CA

    Michelmore VW-Porsche (?)
    (address unknown)
    Reseda, CA

Appears on none of the PDLs that I've seen --- all '69-on

Barest trace of blue paint for the back-round, letters may've been white --- before electricity. Love this kind of little gem . . . always on the same car, totally un-messed-with. Displays an unusual 'fluting' to its sides --- a characteristic of the earlier frames. May be a 'signature' of some particular maker?
