    Tail of the dragon

The run to the Tail of the Dragon was a huge success!!! Fifteen Porsche stalwarts made it to the Fontana Village Resort, Fontana Dam, NC, Friday evening. We had cars from as far north as Boston, MA, as far south as Atlanta, GA, as far east as Richmond, VA, and of course the Carolina guys, both NC and SC, not to mention the two 'local TN' guys.
A welcoming banquet was held Friday night, with all present and accounted for.
Saturday, the group headed out at 1030, to caravan through the Joyce Kilmer Forest, the Cherohala Skyway, some local east Tennessee by-ways, and of course the Tail of the Dragon. Fortunately, the group met no traffic concerns of any kind, and mother nature played into our hands by providing some outrageously gorgeous weather!!! Mid-way through, the tour stopped to have a brown bag lunch supplied by the Resort. The drive ended at about 3:00PM, at Deals Gap (southern end of the Tail) to get some "I ran the Tail" souvenirs.
A fine group of cars and their owners had a great time.
Look for pictures to be posted here next week.

Brought the wrong chip for mine, and didn't take any pic's. Have to rely on others, like Hal.

Hey guys, made it back at midnight last night, looooong drive.

Uploading pics today if the schedule at work allows.

THANK YOU to Vic & Tom (& anyone else who helped set up / organize), to Jim & Adele for hosting us on Thursday night, Paul for leading the way, to the motorcycle driver for NOT getting hit when I spun the car after the tail, and to Paul & Mark for the Monkey Butt Powder.

Great group of people, and that's what makes the rest of the weekend out of the cockpit so much fun & worth the trip.

Let's do this again, same opening weekend next year?

    For your convenience...

The sites that were there (that I know of):

    www.us129photos.com
    www.moonshinephoto.com
    www.zeefoto.com
    www.killboy.com

I have already gone to all of the sites above & "garnished" the low-res preview photos, which are being uploaded to a folder along with the photos Cassandra took from the Navigator's Seat.

Files are saved as xxx.jpg, where xxx is a photo number that fairly closely but not necessarily exactly matches the photographer's photo number on their site - it might be off by a number or two, and some were uploaded but not linked to in their own site. I found them by seeing there was a number missing in the sequence & manually typing it in.

Type in the following & replace "XXX" with the photo number you want. Sorry, no time today for setting up an index.

    http://www.sinclairmfg.com/fred/us129/friday/xxx.jpg
    http://www.sinclairmfg.com/fred/us129/saturday/xxx.jpg

    Friday's photos run in the number series from 035.jpg thru 069.jpg; 102.jpg thru 119.jpg, 652.jpg thru 673.jpg, and 700.jpg thru 748.jpg.

Saturday's photos run in the number series from 031.jpg thru 143.jpg; 598.jpg thru 681.jpg

I'm still uploading the pics we took, will get those links to you asap.

Again, these are the low-resolution proofs that the sites offer for preview... please do consider purchasing the higher-resolution photos from the site of your choice. Buying from them keeps them out there for next time. I'll probably be picking up a poster if they offer it, & an 8x10 I think.

You may have to Right Click & "Show Picture" for the red-x ones, if you get them.
