    Thumbs up

WOW....... What a fantastic time capsule

Sent me right back to racing in the early '70's ........

Man, there’s SO much to look at…..

A couple of things on my first viewing……….

    - The highly competitive casualness....
    - Chicago Pneumatic Tools were still made in Chicago...
    - When 'everyone' used Kendall oil ... (no kidding, everyone) ....
    - And there was NO enter/exit speed limit in the pits....

Cheers and thanks for the link

I met Ralph a few weeks ago...great guy, great stories. I didn't really know who I was talking to until he pulled out his scrap book and started showing me everything (and I mean everything) from his racing days. Ralph is a legend!

Nice find Raj! I like the looks of the 914 with the steelies and white-letter Goodyears. That, and the yellow 911 with the Centerlines (I've got a set of those in my shop just begging to be put on to a 911 )

    Ralph Meaney

He was the prennial CP champ at COM autox in Massachusetts back in the late sixties.

He very kindly replaced the rear wheel bearings in my speedster at the Boston Parade in 72.

He ran his 914-6 GTs at Bridgehampton in SCCA BP and walked away from everything, only to be relegated to BSR thereafter by the Rules Committee.

    Nice guy.

That video is great. I did a search to see if I could find the final results, but I couldn't find them. Does anyone know? I see the Gulf Porsche won.

It is also interesting to see how much of the track remains the same. Of course, the track certainly wasn't as safe in 1970. I noticed they had a bail of hay in front of the beginning portion of a guard rail (as if that would protect anyone who slid into it at 100 mph). In many other places, there were no guard rails (but a few trees to stop you). They even fueled a car on pit road in shirt sleeve shirts.

The race certainly had a large field of cars and many spectators.

Good stuff. Thanks for sharing it.

What's the story with 914/6 being a GT with no flares? Never seen that before.
