    Ignition Wires any difference?

Looking for a set of new wires for the 71 911S and I see that there are numerious ways to go. I'm a traditionalist and would like to keep the car pretty much OEM, but not Concor intense, so I am open for improved wires if they really make a difference. I see that there are the OEM for $250, Breu for $150, and a countless line of wire manufacturers from $69 to $300 and more. Anything I should be looking for and does the premium wires make a substantial difference in relation to price? Thanks for your comments, Allan

I like the Beru wires....great quality and look correct. Sometimes, I custom trim them to length.....

I have Clewett's on my Race Car, they are fantastic. Quality of the boots is great and no more worrying that you're going to yank the wire out of the "beru" connector or leave those rubber insulating washers down inside the head. For as often as you pull the plugs on an MFI race car, they are indispensable, and not that expensive. Clewett fixed all his issues with water ingress that you may read about here and there- they really are a great product that snaps nicely into place and holds on the plug well.

I like the Magnacor Electrosports 70 wires as they are black and the same 7 mm diameter as originals, but offer better protection from stray signals and have good plug end fittings that stay together. A stock length set is around $130-140.

Does the Clewett's come with a coil wire? I checked on the Pelican site and while all the others, Magecore, Breu, etc., shows a coil wire, the Clewett's did not. Was that just an oversite? Thanks Allan

I have ordered three sets of Clewetts...'67, '79 and '87. They all came with a coil wire. For one set I relocated the coil wire and needed a longer wire. They were very accomodating and happy to make my custom length.

    Same experience as Endo911rs

Relocation of the coil required additional length for the coil connection. Avoid the problem by measuring and informing the manufacturer at the time of order. Clewett will make it any length you need.

I installed Beru's on my carbureted 2.7 in my '71.

The fit, length, performance, price and being black were all good for me.

Clewetts seem to be pretty heavy duty with big easy to grip boots and the distributor end is numbered, which is helpful for people who might cross wires...not that I've ever done that.
