    Raised spindles ?

    Hi,
I saw few time people saying that the have raised spindles or 18 mm raised spindles. I can understand that this will lowered the car and keep a good geometry for the steering rods arms and the spindles.

How are they made ? Just by machining the weld between the spindle and the shock housing (yellow arrow), slide the spindle and weld the 2 pieces together again !?

am I right ? Any comments, Pros/Cons of doing this ?

    Thanks !!

The RS or RSR or both had these.
Look at the Smart Racing site, the Elephant site for some useful information, and I think Steve Weiner's Rennsport Portland site. All also do this work. As i recall it's down a ways on the list of desirable suspension changes... i.e. you have lowered your car, added new sway bars, new torsions, perhaps made shock valving changes, before this really adds much. You may also need Bilsteins, I seem to remember that Koni's can't be modified but someone will comment if I'm wrong. Getting the measurement exact is important, otherwise your brakes won't fit, and most people advise having the job done by a pro. A search here or on Pelican will reveal much more.
