Question Brake line installation - I get the right part?

    Hello All,

I ordered SS brake lines from Pelican Parts. They are DOT approved, manufactured from Troutman. The ends appear to be fixed (don't spin on the line). I might be wrong but if they are fixed, do I have to take the calipers off to spin the hose on? Or, do I hold the hose with vice grips and spin the ends (hopefully w/o crushing them). I seem to recall having this issue the last time I replaced the hoses and had to have new ends put on (it's been a while).

    Thanks in advance,
    Chris

If I recollect correctly, the hard lines that come from the Master Cylinder or go from the flex lines to the caliper have the male ends of the flare fittings. The Flex hose has the Female ends that match the hard line ends. The flare nuts should turn without binding on the hard lines.

If these have not been broken loose for a long time, they may be frozen. Be sure you use the correct FLARE NUT wrench and exercise care to keep from rounding the nut(s). Otheriwse you may need to cut and replace the hard line as well.

    figured it out.

Apparently my car had an adapter that allowed for ss lines from decades ago. Took the adapter off and the new lines fit right on.
