    911's on Samba, dirt cheap?

Does anyone know of these cars or the seller? Seems like a few digits are missing...

    I smell scam.

Is this the guy who has a barn full of early 911s but never sells them? I've heard so many stories about this.

I phoned...all the cars are sold as of yesterday.

"I lowered the price and they are all gone. Blew them out"

He's played the same game with the same cars for years now. There must be a clinical description for his type of behavior.

Seems to be a Few of Them

There's a guy from Yorba Linda who posts on here once in a while (and the Bird Board) who does the same thing.

I've called him a couple of times about stuff he had "for sale" and have actually driven all the way to his house from northern L.A. County to try and buy stuff. In the middle of the week with rush hour, no less.

I don't know what it is with these guys, if they're lonely or something and need someone to hang out with and talk to...

But after jumping through hoops to get this guy to decide whether he wanted to sell what he was advertising or not, what he wanted for pricing, trying to decipher his double-speak, obfuscation and indecisiveness, I just figured to heck with it. Somebody else will have the part if I really want it.

It's just not worth dealing with these types. Very frustrating and time consuming, usually with no positive results.

As far as the ones advertised on Samba, this thread on the Bird may have precipitated their discount and removal:

    Alternate reality check...

...that his reality is more real than ours.

Thanks for the links to other threads regarding the seller. More discomfiting than entertaining to read, frankly. A dark glimpse of disturbed self indulgence. But it's still confounding: why would a legitimate, rational collector/seller offer so many obviously wildly priced or questionable items to an obviously limited but knowlegdable enthusiast market, have several online aliases yet include his (real?) name for contact unless it's somehow entertainment for him... The ultimate troll?

The latest, a '65 sunroof shell for $5500 OBO.

I guess it's like a bad crash; can't look away... or ignore the awful truth.
