    1967 911S CORRECT Ignition Lock

    OK all you experts.

What was the correct ignition lock on a US delivery 911S Coupe? Was it a non-locking column with a #300 series key, or was it a locking column with a #700 series key? Or, did they make a non-locking with a #700 series key???

    Thanks for the input!

My coupes are the shorter key, Silca POR2 non locking, my targas are the longer Key, Silca POR5 non locking. I have a Euro coupe and I can't remember whether it's locking or non, or what kind of key but the insert pad has a spring loaded 1/2 inch diameter plunger that you must push the key against in order to turn it (from memory...).

My Euro S has a steering locking, My Normale does not. Both use the same kind of keys (courtesy of my local locksmith)

Thanks for the help. I was told that US 67s did not have a locking column. No I have another question: I have two keys. One fits the ignition (a #300 series) and one fits the doors and the glove box (a FL #700 series). Is this the correct set up? I understand that the valet key should not fit the glove box...is that correct?

    Thanks for the help!

    For those following this thread:

It ends up that the FL key is longer and was used on the locking columns. The doors could either use this key or the 300 series key. The glove box always had a different key.

When I had both of my cars rekeyed the locksmith needed to use a seperate key for the glovebox. He said it had an extra pin in it. May have something to do with the original valet key. I used all new (one size) key blanks for everything. So two keys (one that fits both ignition and doors) and one for the glove box only.
