    WTB: Center Panel

This is for a '67 SWB, but I think they're the same for '65 through '73. Looking for one in decent condition - will repaint.

I notice that Stoddard sells new originals for $290 and repops for $85. Anyone seen them both? How do they compare? I favor original, but steel is steel - pretty simple piece.

    Thanks,

John, I did a repop in aluminum from Will at Classic & Speed parts (CSP) I think about $100 in Dec, great guy and the part looked great.
Just what you needed another option :-)

John, this is what I've found...

The only re-pop piece of steel on a 911 that's heavier then the original is the rear panel. Also the spot weld dimples that most of time show up on the face of the panel (from welding on the reinforcers on the back) are more prominent on the re-pops....

I had my original rear panel that I thought I would bead blast for a better finish....
What happened was the blasting 'heat-worked' the panel so it twisted and became unusable...

So, I had to get a re-pop and live with a heavier more dimpled panel........

    ... and so it goes
