    Replacing Left Hood Shock

After drawing blood from my skull one to many times, I am finally replacing my front hood shocks. The right front has easy access and changed out fairly quick, but the left front mount to the body is tucked way deep inside. Almost seems like the blower motor and fuel filler tube need to come out to get the pin through the bracket. Any sage advice here?

if you prop the hood up to take weight off it the pin slides in easier. It might make things easier if you remove the fibreboard cover It's just a matter of squeezing your hand in. the locking pin is easier to put in with those locking surgical pliers. patience

On my first try, I took the fibre board cover off as well as as the defroster duct. I cant seem to contort my hands tween the filler tube and fan box to reach the pin.

I used a needle nose pliers, to take off the cotter pin holding it in there.
Perhaps its time for Sherwood's solution

you need a pair of small hands

At the risk of this sounding "tongue in cheek" and it's NOT - small hands are useful here. A woman's or preferably (in my case) a mechanically inclined 9 year old son with a love for Porsches!
This advice from experience! Good luck!

I will try finding some long surgical pliers to work on it. It IS Father's day so I can spensd all damn day on it if I want to.

No driving today as the rain here in New England of recent seems like we're living in the Northwest

Agree with taking the tension off first. To get the pin back in I use a piece of monofiliment fishing line and tie it through the pin hole of the pin itself. Then I thread it through the shock mount and shock. It is tight but it pulled through and then you just put in the pin retainer lock.

The hard part is reinstalling the clip, not the removal...
