    few quick interior questions

hey guys, had a couple of quick interior questions.

these 'threshold plates' above the heater slider -has anyone ever seen these on another 9 series before? i have never seen them on another porsche other than mine. anyone one know what they are? why they are there? who made em? any info would be great.

lastly.. what kind of carpet do I have? is this domestic loop? is this factory, or most likely an aftermarket carpet installed when stoddard did the paint in the mid 80s?

    Hi Harry,

Yes, I have seen those a long time ago. They are aftermarket. I'm don't remember who made them. People were buying them for 356 and 900 cars to keep from wearing out the carpet.

Maybe some one else remembers them.

    Hi Harry,

If you look in Dr B. Johnson's book "The 911 & 912 Porsche" you'll see a photo with those same aftermarket carpet protectors on page 70 (at least that's the page for my copy of his book). It's shown in the section entitled "Threshold".

I have a different sort of carpet protectors in our car, see photo. They're full length and have a "turned" (swirled) finish on them. I like them because they're different, not for any real functional reason.

Looks like we have the same carpet, too.

    Best Regards,
    Andy
