    Gas Tanks

    Hello all....
I'm having trouble finding a tank for my 69 T....It seems EVERY place is on back order for the galvanized reproductions...I've tried the unusual suspects Performance Parts, Pelican, etc but no dice ....Does anyone have any suggestions?
    thanks!

If you are into authenticity and want a good OEM gastank, first place I would go would be some of the West Coast Porsche dismantler. Here are 2 of the best:

If faithful period restoration is not that big a factor, I suggest considering a later model Carrera tank. It fits perfectly, has larger fuel capacity ( 20 + gallons) for longer range between fiil-ups, but requires a space saver spare tire. Those tanks too are available from the above source as well. To offset the increased weight in the front of the additional fuel load, a 944 turbo forged alum spare ( as shown in the attached shot of my trunK) will save you about 18 lbs.

Before installation and invetsing a lot of time painting and restoring, may I also recommend that you take it to your local Gas Tank RENU-USA franchiser for a pressure / leak check and sealing. They do good work at a reasonable price......and as Master card claims, peace of mind: priceless.

I think either way is preferable to buying a new repro product.
