No need to double post - heres the Pelican thread. Very excited and love reading the build threads and especially the Satanic details thread.

Welcome to the board Greg. Looks like you'll have plenty of satanic details yourself when you are finished.
Are you going to hold onto or change bumper/tail? I would change when you find something more period ... main thing is to get it into operating shape, and drive it .... you can tinker and hotrod to your hearts content, all day long ...

That's exactly the plan. Get the front suspension mounts fixed, remove the bumpers, whale tail, mirrors, seats, steering wheel, etc. and replace with period correct items.

I'll sell off all the extra items to help finance the correct (in my eyes) pieces. Stage 2 will be the RS flares and 7/8 Fuchs. So much to do!

Started on her yesterday and got the seats pulled out and the seat belt brackets fixed - the PO had ground the mounting holes until they were paper thin so had to weld them up. grind and paint quick. Seat belt mounting points aren't a place to bodge, IMO.

Got the more period correct Corbeau GT8 almost mounted with the Schroth. Next week will spend a bit of time on the engine, hopefully fire it up, and trailer it to the shop to have the new sheetmetal welded in for the front suspension.

Oh, and found the original owners manual with service stamps up to 40,000 miles. =) Even smells German.

I got around to working on her some more.

Removed the SC style rockers, whale tail, and rear bumper and light-fill panel. I could feel the car thank me. Threw on my Fuchs reps with new tires and original finish treatment, pulling the polished fuchs. Baby steps.

ANybody have a stock rear bumper/license plate panel and 2-in, 1-out (or 2 out) muffler they want to sell?

Anyway, a pic of the side with removed rockers:

A pic of the decklid with 15yrs accumulated dirt with no where to go:

And freshly cleaned - the flat black comes off with light fingernail pressure, so wetsanding should take care of it without even breaking a sweat. Though I will have to do something about those extra holes from the whale tail mounting....

The Ansa/Monza? Sport muffler (now up for sale) in surprisingly good shape, and a few extra bits that came out when I pulled the bumper off. Heh.
