Rally Skid Plates from In the Day

Many of the vintage rally cars that I see pictured have skid plates mounted front and rear. I have located a set of NOS factory skid plates. They appear to be very simple - just bolt on to existing points using four bolts on each one. But the NOS ones are really (really) expensive.

Has anyone used originals as templates to make reproductions? I suspect that it would be a simple process with reasonably priced materials.

Alternatively, if I spring for the NOS ones, is anyone interested in a set if I make a few? Not trying to make a lot of money, but maybe help reduce my original costs.

    Cheers,
    JohnA

depending on cost, and how true they are to the originals, i would be very interested. how much would your price point be?

I would be interested also, I've seen NOS up close and it seems fairly easy to replicate.

OK, I bought the NOS skid plates. As soon as they come in I will get the specs together and get an estimate on what it will cost to produce a pair. The price will be based on the cost and should be a fraction of what the NOS ones cost (if there are any more out there).

For those who will be attending the Carmel Concours they will mounted on my '67 Bahama Yellow Sports Purposes SWB. Stop by and say hi.

    Cheers,

John, I believe I have an OEM unit to use as a template, should you want to use it. It is thick gauge aluminum plate.

Edit - you beat me to posting. I'd be interested to compare mine to yours. Post pics when you can.
