    Best early modified gauge setup?

Okay. Looking at my gauges on my 911 Normal, I want more information. I am still used to the 911L/S gauges that were standard on my old '68 that was originally built with a Sportomatic. I already own a correct pair of '68 gauges that show fuel level/oil level, and oil temp/pressure, and I think I am going to put them into use. Here's my idea for the gauges:

    1. Since I am not going to replace the oil tank or do other things necessary to get an oil level sender in place, I am thinking of changing the "oil level" portion of the new gauge to read volts. This is a well done conversion, and I think it's about $100 or so from NH Speedo to replace that part in my original gauge. So I'd have fuel level w/the small the low fuel light, and then volts in the far left gauge.

    2. If my color blind self can get the wiring right, I have the necessary wires already to swap out the Normal gauge for oil temp/handbrake light with the better one. I can leave that one stock.

    3/4: Tach/Speedo leave alone.

5: Clock- move it out, and get another small combo gauge core to start with. Now, what would be fun to put in the blanks? I was thinking that a fuel pressure gauge (electric, isolated from the fuel system) might be neat information to have in the dash, but I've never seen one built before. The other side of that gauge could be...what? What else would be a really cool and useful thing to have? A/F ratio? EGT? The idea would be that it would have the same stock appearance as the others. Any other ideas?

On my old car, I had a small combo gauge (instead of the clock) that NH built that read Volts on one side and Amps on the other, but in retrospect the AMP side wasn't very useful. NH built it to read +/- 60, which wasn't a very good scale, +/- 30 would probably have been better, because you would see more needle action.

Just looking for some ideas, thanks!

A/F ratio and cylinder head temp (CHT) would be my first two choices to monitor beyond the stock gauge/idiot light parameters.

Agree with your assessment of value of "amps"...use the space for something else.
