    Door Panel Materials?

The current door panels in my 73 T have power window switches (aftermarket and look like they came out of a Buick, circa 1982), as well as some cheesy aftermarket window cranks. Needless to say, they need to be replaced.

I am going for a hot-rod period correct feel for the car, so I was wondering what vinyl/leather materials have typically been used on the sports and racing cars? Diamond Pleated? Perforated? Basket Weave? etc? I'll likely go with the RS type simple panel, but might keep manual window cranks.

    Thanks!

I'm sure some of the guys who have foto's of the race cars circa that time period will chime in... but if it were me, I would probably try to match the material in the rest of the car.

The material for 72/73 is different vinyl from the earlier stuff, it has a dulled down finish but has more texture. I know Tony at Autobahn has a good replication of this material. I think he could easily do some RS door panels for you in whatever material you wanted.

    cheers,
    Eric

Hey Greg, since I'm lurking around working out a deal for your steering wheel I thought I'd point you to this thread about my RS door panel customization:
