Solving oil smoke in heater problem

I have a 73.5 911T that has a few minor oil leaks. Just recently it has started to intermittently generate a fairly thick puff of smoke through the heater ducts. The smoke will dissipate and then it will happen again about 10 or 15 minutes later.

I guess oil is getting into the heat exchanger, where it is being burned and the result is smoke in my car. Does this mean there's a hole or crack in the heat exchanger? Or, can the oil be getting in there by some other means?

    Thanks in advance.

Oil is leaking from the bottom valve cover onto/into the heat exchanger.
