Thread: Correct to have Fuchs as spares?

Correct to have Fuchs as spares?

Was it typical for the factory to provide 4 or 5 "forged alloy" wheels when 911's were first purchased? In other words, was the spare wheel a matching Fuch as well?

I have a 1973.5 911T Targa that came with "Forged Alloy" wheels which were sold back to the dealership when the car was originally purchased. I have since purchased and restored 4 correct Fuchs and they are now on my 911. My spare wheel is a stock steel wheel. I recently purchased a 5th correct wheel and I'm debating whether to sell it or restore it and use as my spare. I figured that if it's "correct" to have 5 Fuchs, then I'll keep it.

    Thanks in advance.

It would be considered correct to have a matching spare.

Thanks for the quick replies! I'll get my fifth wheel over to Al Reed to restore.

    spares

In the day, the cars came from the factory with 5 wheels, which were all the same, - chrome, reg. steel, Fuchs.

My only comment is that you do want the fuchs spare for weight savings over the steels

How about the spare that comes as a donut and needs to blown up to use?. I have seen some with a fuchs rim. Is that oem correct?

Up to 74 the spare matched the road wheels except on the cars with inflatable spares, they typically had steel. However some of the inflatable also had Fuchs as you can see in the 73 RS manual.
Race cars are a different story.......
