Thread: Need new valves

    Need new valves

I opened up my engine to change all the the seals and discovered that my valves were not seating properly. Long stroy short, I have been running the wrong valves, 39 and 35 mm, when I should be running 42 and 38mm.

Anyone know who sells a pair that won't break my finances? Stoddard is asking $81 and $112 each That comes to aruound $1,200 a set!!!

    Thanks
    Henry

The cheap route is to buy 2.2-2.7 valves and have the undergournd to size. Pretty cheap @ $50 a pop.

I think what you are describing is impossible-- normal valves in 911S heads? How would the engine even run?

Either get used valves or heads from a 2,0 T or E or check out SI valves, they make stainless copies of the ATE valves.

Impossible? Tell that to my '69S! Might be a bit too much material to take off the valve for a head that needs 42mm valves vs. the 45mm of the '69S. Still, the 46mm might work...

That was my first reaction when I talked to my mechanic, but the heads have the right number for a 68S and the valves are ATE 3050 and 3052.

They were a little loose and came out quite burned but the engine ran really well

If you want to use ATE, it might be cheaper to install bigger seats and use the cheaper, later valves. I'd still look into grinding down later valves, too.

I can provide a set of used, in spec valves or a set of new valves.

PM me with your email for details.

Ask for Lee. I don't know him; this is from a reliable source here (Balllos Machine) who uses their product and has never had an issue.

As I said above I used SI valves-- the ones for an "S" are not in the current catalog, but they can probably make them.

Here are the ones in my engine, they are the exhaust valves. The intakes are NOS ATE.
