Thread: Ultimate R thread

  1. #621
Since we call this thread "Ultimate", I thought adding the Kardex for R1,2,3,4 (Prototypes) might be of some help to others while understanding the history of the R. Several years ago I made up a book which lists the copies of each 911R Kardex built by the factory, this included the 20 series cars, and the 4 Prototypes.

Wow!! Ernie. That is great. Thanks for posting those. That will answer a lot of those questions. And probably start off another set of them

I noticed the color on 307671 as well kardex says light ivory but internal documents say tangerine. Proto 1 the kardex said polorot but the car was light ivory
That is two kardexes that the color shown is different to what is commonly accepted and shown on internal documents. Sloppy Kardex filling out or changed decision on color in manufacturing process?

Regarding the kardex listed color for R1, polorot 6602, It may be a typo, but... around that same time in racing car production Porsche started using the white color for its race cars. Back in post 605, showing R1 being unloaded from the transporter you can clearly see sections under the front cross member, and side jack point, both of which look the same as body color. We know the series of 20 R's had no undercoating, and were painted black on the underside. Since R1 looks different from what we already know about the series of 20 R's made. I'm thinking it was a repaint... I can remember along the lines, someone saying white pigment paint was the lightest in weight...or the preference of the racing department?

Long time, hello to all of you here

I suppose that most of you did read that #006R got a new owner last month in Monterey:

    https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/m...-911-r/1119386

Reading the whole story, I had a doubt on a little detail :
In the car history, ..the name of the first owner (according to RM S.) was Mr. Fernand Schigler.

Well, for those of you here that like exact information, ..here is what I found :

Take a look at this photo (not a 911R photo, but about the the name of the owner of a 911R ..that looks to be the very first private person that have ordered and received a 911R :

Note : this photo comes from the Caradisiac forum

Now, if you still have a doubt about his name : Easy, look at :

air inlets... Only air inlets given their size? But... the material with which that work was done on the hood. is it fiber?Wood?
this vehicle is the R2 correct?
would it dynamically affect those air inlets?

Yes, it is the prototype R2. The hood is probably done in fiberglass.

    thank you davep!!
I take advantage and ask... about the Spanish 911R. Is everything clear? I thought I read that there was some confusing story! Perhaps from my understanding of Spanish I can search or clarify something.

I think this goes here? The famous Alpinche was restored... It contains the engine of a 911R (I think) I have never delved into it... The alpine for me is one of my favorite cars... I would like to hear it sometime with the 911 engine. ... I leave a link, but on the internet there are many videos and images of an incredible restoration!
