Where is the date code, what does it look like, and if the distributor has the correct part number stamped into it why do we need the date?

Mike,

The date code is a 3 digit number that is stamped into the exterior of the distributor body. 908 would be August of 1969.

The date code is only secondary to me because my car is unrestored.
