    '72 911T VIN check?

I have a friend who is looking at a 1972 T Targa that has the following VIN:

    9112110171

I don't have my books with me- the car has carbs, and my thought that for a US version it should have fuel injection. Am I wrong? Thanks so much- BP

    911 simple; 2='72; 1=T-E (US T w/ MFI (I want to say that a Euro T w/40mm Zeniths was a four?); 1=Targa; Serial=0171

Seems like an early/mid production 72 Targa to me.

Check the engine type stamped into the case; should be a 911/51 or /61 if its a sporto.

Thanks again. My buddy passed on it, it was on Ebay and ended last night, and went for $13,800. Who knows, maybe the new owner will show up here one day.
