    Cookies & '73s

    Greetings All,

It seems like many '73 911 cars have Cookies instead of Fuchs. What's the deal? My '73 as well as many others have Cookies.

    Just wondering, Bill

I believe cookies were made the standard wheel -- instead of steel -- in '73.

Hard to know for sure, because it seems PCNA mandated some options on all imported 911s. For instance, you rarely see 4-speeds in the US.

    Cookie Cutters

For the '73 model year, ATS cookie cutters were the standard fitment for the 911E model. Fuchs were standard fitment for the S and the T had painted steel wheels as standard. (but Fuchs could be optioned for E and T)
It was probably uncommon for folks to tick the option box for the Cookie Cutters.
I guess that there are a lot of the ATS wheels about now because most owners prefer the Fuchs wheels, so have swapped out the cookie cutters.
