Where did my engine case come from?

Just curious where my engine case started out? counter replacement part? I am pretty sure with my limited library that it did not start out in my 68 911.

    Case number *907812*

To the right of the fan housing is 901/03 and 4677

I think this is an aluminum case, how to tell for sure vs magnesium?

    Thanks in advance

Gary, it started as a 66 alum. case. It was bored and the boss added for the later distributor to be used.
