FRUSTRATED..... No 2009 Concours trip.

I was hoping the 69S would be up and running after 2 long years of work. Turns out a rat, or some other rodent, chewed through a 3" span of the ignition harness at some arbitrary point in time, and nearly started an electrical fire, there was blistered paint. Said rodent left a nice pile of fermenting waste in there as well, and created some surface rust.We caught it before it got bad. At least it was addressed before it was all put back together. At present, it's all been cleaned out, steel has been treated and painted. Still splicing the harness. GRRRRRRRR.
Engine is back together, MFI pump ir rebuilt, transmission is rebuilt, reconditioned suspension is back in place, brakes are done, new carpet, and seats have been recontitioned, all rust treated and new undercoating applied. Hoping to repaint it in November. I didn't even get to annoy a GTO, Mustang, or whatever being a creatin at Hot August Nights in Reno. 2009 is a flop.
Hopefully 2 more weeks. Latest pics will follow. Hoping to make it to Ventura in October.

All good things take time. It will be worth the wait. Looking forward to seeing pictures.

Will you show at the PCA Zone 7 event Sept 13-14? That would be a nice event to bust your cherry. I believe it takes place in one of the small towns just south of Reno. I have been told it is a great event. They host a Basque dinner on Saturday night and a pig roast during the concours on Sunday. I'm hoping to make the trip over this year.

If that doesn't work for you, there is also an SCCA concours in Chico on the same weekend.

I wasn't aware of the meet up south of Reno. Basque food.... sounds like Minden/ Gardnerville. They have the only Basque restaurant I know of, off a golf course. If it's up and running, I will definately be there. We have some great roads around here that make these cars shine! I caught a glimpse of a Carrera GT bombing down Foothill Road off Kingsbury Grade last year. What a beautiful car.
Thanks for the words of confidence. I'm just getting antsy. Concours was a big goal to try to meet. There is always next year.
Yeah, painting it after it's put together. All the paint under the hoods and in the door jambs are in great shape. It should work out, the guy says he can taper the paint stripe pretty well. Hoping to get the boss to consign his painter and shop to the job after Concours. The guy does great work. If his car wins, chances for getting a yes improve. Root for the '37 Horch in the Best of Show this year
