    72 oil tank

Does the `S`tank differ from the `E & T` tanks? I have the console and need everything else...Thanks Cliff.

All the 72 tanks were the same, irregardless of model.

I think there is actually 2 versions (but I'm not sure); one with hole for oil level gauge sender and one withour. Mine doesn't have hole for it and I believe S-model at least had that sender. But as said, I might be wrong.

    72 oil tank

The simplest thing will be for me to look this up in the parts book. I have never seen a 72 tank without the sender hole, but then all the cars I've dealt with all had the oil level gauge. I have seen earlier tanks (68) without the sender hole, but have also seen some without the level gauge and a blanking plate on the hole. Since your car doesn't have the full gauge package that makes it a very unusual 72. Most USA dealers loaded them up. Sorry, I hadn't considered this when I said they were all the same. Most of them had the additional oil fitting for a front cooler, but I have seen a very early VIN car that didn't.

Mine is just an oil tank and sender so I have no idea where it came from, its going for 911R replica.
(and I better check that it actually doesn't have just block-off plate but I'm pretty sure about this)

All '72's should have the same oil tanks (with the caveat of Sportos?). My low option Euro "E" has simple guages and a block off plate on the oil tank.

I would be worried about corrosion. These things rust out. Out of the 5 I have bought only one was not swiss cheese. Three had previous brazing done. I am taking a 993 stainless tank that I bought and modifying the inlets for my "R" look alike.

    72 oil tank

Great comments..My main consideration was to fit a `S ` console to a 911 T tank. Thanks for the info...cliff
