    Historics Preview & early update

Drove down to Monterey / Carmel yesterday to prepare for Historics week & meet with a few friends and early arrivals. It's always such a pleasure to go this event. The weather, as always was splendid ( light fog in the early mornings, sun came out at 10:00 or so) for a couple of warm, breezy, sunny days (see photo #1) . Looks like it's going to be a good crowd, lots of international visitors ( favorable exchange rates ). The merchants are in full "Historics / Auto-week" mode ( see photo #2), and if you're so inclined & want to spend the money, there is something automotive-related going on every minute of the day somewhere on the peninsula.

I stopped at the Bernardus Lodge where I heard there is going to be a benefit dinner this evening with wine tasting and 10 invited Porsches displayed. I passed on the dinner ( $500.00...!!) but did stop in their cozy, delightful bar ( see photo #3) for a mid-day gin & tonic, chatted with Ben Pon, the owner, got his autograph and watched a few of the cars being unloaded (see photo # 4 & 5).

Tomorrow morning, meeting up with friends to see the Cars-on-the-Avenue Concours. Will post pictures of that tomorrow evening..........but not too many, because the important events of the entire week will be covered in far greater detail in the upcoming next issue of the ESSES.
