    OEM gas burner finish

What was the original finish on the 5.5x15 Mahle gas burner wheels, painted siver, anodized, and does anyone have similar or approporiate alternatives?

I think they were painted. I had mine powder coated.

Yes, they were painted silver. However, underneath that I'm not too sure. The nearly new one that I had for many years was scratched in places, and there was a blue layer under that. The blue layer was very close in color to oxidized copper such as you might see on a copper roof. So the magnesium may have been plated copper, or it may have been some kind of a primer coat.
