    My Favorite Movie Porsche..

Of all time.. It appears to be a sporto...

Downhill racer has been running lately on HBO.. Shows again on Monday am.. Still not out of DVD.. Have a VHS copy put away, but that will be like 8 tracks in a few more years..

I've always liked the scenes with Redford tearing around the Alps.. Anybody in Europe know the whereabouts of this car??

I loved the poster when I saw it and have it framed and displayed but must admit, I've never seen the movie. Now I HAVE to see it.

I like the film a lot and have seen it twice. The poster shows two people kissing, which leads people to believe it is a romance film. However, this couldn't be further from the truth. In fact, the only romance takes place between a skier and a hot French Swiss woman using Redford to help her firm get Redford to use its skis. And Redford himself plays a self centered skier who is only interested in himself. Not much of a love story there....
On the other and, the film is great in that it really captures skiing in the late 60's and the sense of what it would have been like being a professional (Olympic) skier in Europe competing.
Even better is the combination of Gene Hackman and Redford. Hackman plays the US team manager who is trying to get Redford to think team and to challenge himself to be a better skier. At one point Hackman tells Redford that if redford wins a downhill race, he will get his name somewhere on the bottom of page two of the Herald Tribune. However, if a European wins a downhill event, he is hailed as a national hero.
    Not much has changed, eh?

You have to see The Last of the Ski Bums. Three ski bums go to Monte Carlo and win big. One goes off to buy a car and shows up in Golden Green 67 S with a rear wiper and luggage AND ski racks on the roof. They hit the discos, St. Moritz etc. Period and cool.

    Skis

Hey Strato 102, nice poster. I'm sure you know that the skis on the rack are Rossignol Stratos. They had good taste in cars and skis. Steve

    Steve,
I love 'em. These are 215 cm. The one good thing about New England ski areas is that they are empty midweek, no Saturday to Saturday skiers like the west. W/high speed chairs you can do alot of vertical with these old skis. Stratos are like the 911s. VR17s are like the R!
