Thanks Davep, the case is strange in that the left half (zyl.1,2,3) has Dec.'64 markings and right half (4,5,6) seems to be Jan. '65. see pictures
Ps. I do have chain boxes a covers, only found 3 cyl. heads, but the dates are all consistent.

I do not find that strange. The casting dates are quite scattered. I even have 901238 with an 11/64 case half. In fact, in that period my data does not show many matching case halves. It almost seems they made one half, then the other half; not both at the same time. I presume each half was machined separately on different machines; set up for just one half. Then the two halves were brought together and machined as a set. When the case set was finally assembled into an engine the casting sequence was well and truly lost. Certainly the sequence in which the completed engines were installed in chassis was quite jumbled. The car in which this engine was first installed was probably invoiced about the first week in April. So it was likely completed in mid to late March. That is about three months later than the case halves were cast. The transmission case for this car could have been cast in the 46th week of 1964. It appears that the supply chain for these parts could easily be 100 days long.
