    Rose Bowl: a different look

I took these yesterday @ 2PM. things here are looking a lot worst since then. It doesn't resemble the picture you see @ 2PM on January 1 on ABC.

My closest friend of 25 years is IN that fire right now cutting fire line for the Bear Divide Hot Shot Crew.

It was 114 degrees in the San Fernando Valley this afternoon ... you can almost double that on the fire line with near 20ft flame licks. We're talking Hell on Earth, gentlemen ... HELL on Earth.

    Marco,

A big "thanks" to you friend and those like him!!!

I hear things are getting pretty bad down there in that area, and I just heard that there's a bunch of homes outside of Sacramento were lost.

On a side note, and I should start a separate thread to note that one of our members Stephen Demosthenes of Route 30 Classics had to evacuate all of his cars due to a fire that closed in on them on Friday night. I hear they can go back in now as they got it contained.

It's pretty scary stuff, we had a fire come roaring down our canyon a few years ago, and we had to evacuate from the cabin. We made several trips towing and driving out cars, parts, sentimental stuff etc. etc.

    Good luck to all!

    Eric

We out-of-towners hear about these fires all the time and don't give them much of a 2nd thought. But this one seems different. The reports I heard today were basically saying there's absolutely nothing anyone can do except pray for rain ... and there's no rain in the forecast
