I finally broke down and bought the ones from Porsche, instead of the repros from Stoddards. They fit just about as poorly as the repros. I should have fitted them pre paint... Anybody have any tips on fit without re drilling new holes?

Are you talking about the anodized sheet-aluminum caps that rivet to the open front of the rear bumpers.
If you are, you won't find any that fit. I have steel RS rear Touring bumpers on Ruprecht, and after a two year search scored a pair of factory parts through a usually very dependable source.......at $ 125.00 the pair. I was so delighted to find that the factory still had them available at all at any price, that the money didn't matter. You can imagine my disappointment when they arrived from the Vaterland. (see attached photo)
Since then, a local metal man has offered to "fix" them at $ 90.00 @ hour, ( he estimates 2-3 hours total to make them fit the car) which of course would destroy the anodized finish, necessitating re-anodizing them at King o' Trim for another $200.00,...... for a total investment of roughly $500.00 for a couple of shyte-on-a-shingle flimsy little pie-pan material pieces of aluminum.
Excuse me, I have to lie down, my brain hurts.

My new end caps ordered from Porsche fitted ok, I pop riveted them on and then shaped them carefully with a rubber hammer to take out the small gaps.

was the gap on the parts you fixed as bad as what you see in my photo.
By the way, Bill, did you use the U-cross-section black rubber beading ( same material used to hold the aluminum screen into the top & botttom bars of early engine gilles, 69 to the year they started using the molded plastic units).
That will fill some of the gap, if that's what the problem was. Nothing would have helped mine.

Ive got the beading. Last time I fit these I resorted to drilling new holes. I hate to do it again, but we shall see. Ive got lots of old ones I suppose I should send to the king of trim for future use. I felt sure the Porsche ones would fit, but they look about like yours. Thanks for your help, Bill
