    Pricing opinions needed!

In my hunt for a CIS T I have stumbled on an "E" and wanted to get an idea about pricing:

    - 72 911E MFI
    - Factory options include Koni struts, thru grill fog lights, S brakes
    - 85,000 original miles
    - One repaint in factory color 10 years ago, still considered to be near perfect. Rust-free (any rust was remediated at the time of the paintjob). The owner painted the wheel wells black for appearance reasons. Brightwork rated 8.5/10.
    - Newish headliner and carpet.
    - Engine hasn't been rebuilt. There are a few leaks that need to be tracked down. Tranny shifts ok.
    - Except for aftermarket exhaust, very original (orig. radio, door pockets not cut for speakers, etc…)
    - All in all, it looks like the exterior/interior has gone through a partial resto, but the engine and tranny hasn't been touched. No smoke on startup or lifting off the gas.

The seller is asking low $40's for the car and my gut tells me that the market would probably bear $33-$35 for the car, tops.

    What do you think? Thanks!

"Remediated rust" could be ominous, or it might just mean some road rash on the bumpers. Assuming nothing serious for rust repairs (original body) and a nice color, around 35-40K seems right, to me.

    Thanks Tom,

The rear shelf was partially rusted, as were the headlights and drivers-side fender. These areas were cut out and replaced. I've seen many pictures of the car, and the repair looks to be of a very high standard.

You should have someone who really knows these cars well check out the rust repairs. That will help you determine value, and whether it is even a car that you want to own, at all. Porsche owners are fussy, and repairs have to be done really well to be right.

I agree with what Tom said.... and in case you haven't looked at this CIS T, I do recommend the car as I once owned it, and wish I hadn't sold it. It's a little pricey, but it's a really good car, and it is well described. No, I didn't sell it to them, it went through someone else.

    regards,
    Eric

Sounds crazy, but I actually like the rubber bumpers, plus the CIS is presumably more serviceable than an MFI.

    For What It's Worth

I am getting photos together to sell my 71S Targa this weekend and was looking for similar money -$40k or so. It's clean w service documentation back to 1987 and has 82,000 miles.

"The 1970-to-1971 2.2-liter S with mechanical fuel injection is the absolute top choice. These 2.2 S engines are short-stroke, high-compression powerhouses without substantial emissions-control clutter, and they have a powerband with gobs of high-rpm torque. With their mechanical fuel injection still intact, they make a spine-tingling shriek as they shoot to redline."

Are nice Ts really commanding this kind of dough in this market? I've seen some pretty nice S's for close to this money.
