    Best Fall Drives

Upper Hudson and Lake Champlain, N.Y.
NY State Highway 9N between Saratoga Springs and Plattsburgh is a match for anything in New England, a rambling road that zigzags through the eastern Adirondacks and along the shore of Lake George and Lake Champlain. There’s plenty of history along the way, including the Saratoga battlefield and Fort Ticonderoga, as well as the swish social scene in Saratoga.
This one sounds real nice - history too

Anywhere in the mountains of North Carolina. Franklin to Highlands to Brevard is the ultimate.

I agree, but there are many interesting roads in the north Georgia mountains. One drive is rather short, and you climb two different mountain ranges: I enjoy north of Helen, GA to Brasstown Bald mountain, to Suches, GA and then a glass of wine in Dahlonega, GA (just avoid the GA-made wine ).

    Hey soft targa,
Do you have any interest in joining a few Atlanta area early Porsche guys in a drive this fall? Nice collection, BTW.

NYS - Seaway Trail... Start in Sacketts Harbor and work your way up the St. Lawrence River. I live north of there in a village at the meeting of Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence... great country roads with wonderful views and foliage. A lot of bikers do seaway rides through my area.

Air goes in and out, blood goes round and round, any variation of this is a bad thing.

You guys have some great areas out there in the east. Must be great with the color changes? How is Rt. 100 through VT and Ma? I was trucking through there in the mid 90's enroute to Killington from NYC. It looked like some fun twisty stuff.
Also How far away is that NC area from Deals Gap/ Tail of the Dragon? I heard tht is a must do drive/ motorcycle ride.
Out here in Tahoe, we have HWY 88 to Jackson, and HWY 4 to Stockton. They go through some great windy roads with minimal traffic. Very scenic. Some parts will get to 9000' and change, IE: Monitor and Ebbets Passes. The little normally aspirated air cooled sixers are GASPING for air, ha ha.
Also, there is HWY 49 through the Sierra's is cool, especially during Apple Hill season/ harvest time.
Have a great fall season. This is the time the hot rods shine.

Just about any state route and countless byways in N.H and Vermont or Upstate N.Y. or N.W. Conn.
I'd say Maine too but a lot of the roads are not in very good condition, away from the coast esp.

Our favorite is with the local PCA region Nord Stern and the annual Fall Color Tour..........a drive along Lake Superior north of Duluth all the way to the Canadian Border and beyond, if you are Internationally inclined.

The Maple trees are turning red and gold, the two lane twisties are slightly damp and slippery with leaves. All in all it makes for an inspiring drive in a Porsche...........
The crispness of the fall air, exagerated by a warm fire, as one looks over the windswept lake of Superior from the safety and warmth of a room overlooking pure, raw beauty. Combined with good food, good Porsche friends, all there because of a common love for a great sports car from Germany.

Life does not get any better.

One might actually think from your post you'll be taking in the North Shore color tour this year...

See you there...I'm going to try to bring my pics of the museum
