S oil cooler .. trivia question

I have two S oil coolers that I will put in the for sale section soon. Upon close inspection I noticed that there is a small difference in the length of the threaded pipes. The used one has (besides a weld which most likely is not OEM) shorter pipes than the NOS unit.

    Q. Is the difference in length for a reason, like newer (2.4) and later S (2.2)?

    Regards

    Richard
