What they gained in weight, they shaved off by using a driver that could barely see over the wheel.

The only cars ahead were 2 917K's, 2 Ferrari 512M's and a Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona, all in sport 5000 class.

it beat Wicky's 907 and a bunch of 911s's but none of them factory cars as the factory ran the 917's

I will have to look at the Porsches at le mans book when i finally get it

    Thumbs up

    Raj,

I'll let Hugh answer the specifics when he gets his book... however, looking through mine, the stats state nothing exceptional compared to the other 17 911's competing.............. Until you guys come up with the factory 'tricks' I'd say this car was driven VERY well and had an abundance of '24 hour' luck ...

    Cheers

I have a photo of the car and will post tonight if i can
i cant see anything physically different about it - i suspect differences are all internal

i think i have photos of 20 or so 911's from 1971 - the 17 or so that raced plus a few that did not qualify including a 911T that from memory was a Kremer entry

i will try to post all tonight

I think it was an experiment in offset grinding the rod journals for the small increase in stroke.
