    915 5th gear swap

I have the closer ratio early 915 box. I love the close ratio, but would prefer a lower 5th gear. I'm reading the swap isnt too bad. I searched around a bit and didn't really find the definitive information I was looking for. Some guy found a .63 5th gear set but I havent been able to find more info. I'll be taking a few very long trips in the car this summer and would like to dial it back a bit...

this is what I've seen about on pelican, but with little associated info. when I go to philnet or whatever it says on that box it brings me to bibliotherapy. Maybe a life hint, but still not what I'm lookin for. Can't find anything for Powerhaus II corp either. The number on the box rings to someone else now.

.63 is a very tall 5th. I think Powerhaus is out of business, not sure. Matt Monson of Guard Transmission has a .679 5th for the 915. Guard Transmission phone # 303-530-1094.

That .63 is designed for torquey V8 conversions - very tall!

I use a TL 5th gear set from an early 915 with the smaller 7:31 pinion and crown wheel - (I think it's about .78). The effect with a later 8:31 gearbox is great for highway cruising and not too tall for my 2.7 to turn comfortably. About 2200rpm at @60mph. Easily found too.
