    Talking Wtb porsche 912

I am in the market for a good , rust free , accident free early 912 ( not a 912e) for my collection .
I am based in new zealand so my shipper will be handling the transaction and if you look in this forum i am a regular so this is not a scam.
I am not looking for a new resto more a genuine clean car that is a strong runner. Any car offered will be required to have a PPI .
So i look forward to seeing whats out there.

indeed a good car that appears well sorted out....
polished deep sixes, H-4's, external cooler, big bore
very good price for this, way ahead of many 912's out there for sale.
the seats and door pocket upgrade is nice and easy to return to orig.

    thumbs up on this one!

My first thought was "You're dreaming - you and everybody else". I'll take all the cars I can get like that for that price....

I think you are going to have to raise the bar a bit. I have seen (and driven behind) that car and it is a steal at $12K. Worth more like $15K even in today's market.

You might get lucky. They do pop up - but there are a LOT of people over here looking for them too... so they don't stay on the market. The other problem is a lot of folks view 912s as sacraficial lambs for projects like these

    http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...ad.php?t=29613

so there are fewer and fewer around every day.

My theory is that a good 912 is hader to find then a 911. Someone who purchased a 912 was on a budget - and it was a daily driver, not a second car. Plus they probably didn't have the money to properly maintain it.

You might be better off trying to find a nice car with a blown engine - since it seems that you end up rebuilding the prime mover sooner then later anyway. Here is an example of a car that may go that way

    http://912bbs.org/index.php?a=thread&p=221004

The owner was shocked when he found out that a rebuild may run $8K

    http://912bbs.org/index.php?a=thread&p=221113

As I recall - it is a fairly nice car.

If the car that you are looking for a PPI on in San Luis Obispo is a white SWB - 67 as I recall but maybe a 66 - that has lots of spare parts - for about $6K - it is maybe worth that price - but barely.

I think it has been on the market for quite some time. As I remember - the car is unknown to members of the 912 Registry. If I can be of any help in the SF Bay area send me an email.

Ahhhh the sixties... I envision myself one early Saturday morning wearing plaid shorts, black shoes with white socks smoking a cigarette heading to the hardware store to buy a bag of nails.
SWB cars are an acquired taste however once acquired theirs no turning back.
