Hey...I just noticed...that's the type of horn button I have! This is the first real photo I have ever seen! The only difference is the one I have has the wings.

    Wink Heater?

What a fascinating issue, it's amazing that the function of this strange item hasn't been explained in the literature.

I would put my money on a heater ventilation system where the air can either be closed/opened, or even directed towards the side window, via a rotating switch at the bottom.

I'm thinking of a ventilation/heater system for three reasons:

    1. On another 901 prototype, an intricate heating system has been identified running through the upper door edge and leading to a small opening near the side window:

    2. The heating system has vents for the feet, the windshield, but there is nothing directed towards the upper body.

    3. What else could it really be for? The opening trigger for the gas tank was originally located in the inner door panel, and the trunk switch always located below the dash. They were both very minimalist switches, just about bent wires really.

It seems odd to me that the factory would have "over-designed" a switch just to open the gas tank lid.

Perhaps the factory archives have the answer somewhere in their files?
