Owner states he has accepted an offer on the car. Based on the description he gave me, it sounds like a very nice buy. Did a member here secure that car? Hope so...

I tried to go look at it but it had already sold. Less than 10 hours after posting. Here is the email reply:
"Hello All,
Thank you for the overwhelming response to the ad for 1967 Porsche 911S in ‘The Samba’. We received many replies from all over the world. However, I must inform you that there is a pending full price offer. I will let you know the outcome ASAP.
Many people requested similar information about the car, so I will provide some details. The car has had only 3 owners. It was recovered from a barn in Montana in 1983 by the second owner. It was complete, except the original 2 liter engine was disassembled with every nut and bolt cataloged and it had been repainted. It was brought to Colorado to be rebuilt. The engine and transmission was rebuilt by Weissach Engineering. The original transmission was used but the engine case was exchanged. The body was taken Fogg’s Auto Shop where it was repainted using OEM paint. This car had no rust and no body damage. All rubber, carpet, and the headliner were replaced at this time. A genuine Porsche dashboard was also fit.
For the last 24 years this car has been stored heated garage in Colorado. I have also included several additional pictures.
Thank you for your interest, Bob"
He sent some photos but nothing that really tells the story about the car. The motor(case) is an issue but it sounds like a really solid car.

Same reply for everyone and request for photos followed with same ones on advert again....could be good deal...could not?
The car was bought by a friend here in the Midwest. Previously the owner of a top notch '69 E as well as a Ruf 930, he was itching to get back into a long nose when he spotted the ad on Samba. He did some "crack of dawn" sleuthing and was able to get a bunch of information about the car before talking to the owner. Perhaps he'll tell the story here when he gets it home.

Hi Jim,
Seems the new owner as well as our good friend from Lake Mills are making a good old fashion road trip out of this. They leave CO early in the am. I asked if they happen to have any tools with them, his response was "Does a roll of ducktape count?" Should be a good tale to tell.
Also the original engine case may be recovered. Wouldn't that be sweet.

This could be a remake of Smoky and the Bandit. Or perhaps IMSA, circa 1973; CS vs 911. Anyway, it sounds like fun.

Update!
After 1000 adventure filled miles, the 67 S is now in it's new home in the Midwest. Was the trip 100% trouble free? No way, but nothing croped up that was insurmountable. Most issues were related to non-use for the past 27 years. Overall the car has huge potential. All the hard stuff is there and in terrific shape. It has a fresh engine and is a legit rust free, original body panel chassis with no rust repair ever. Other than the engine case it still has all it's original S bits. The original engine case is being tracked down as we speak.
The car has a really interesting history with a cast of characters to match. Luckily the car survived in fine shape.
This winter we will bring the engine/trans, suspension and undercarriage up to concours specs and leave the natural patina to the chassis and interior intact. Should be a real stunner in spring! Pics will be posted as we go.
Randy has some pictures from the road trip which I hope he will post.
Never used the duct tape and tie wraps, but found a BMW CS tool roll to be a very handy thing......
Cheers!

Excellent Scott,
I have been wondering how you guys made out. Can't wait to hear the whole story (plenty of laughs I'm sure) and see your new S. Should be fun next summer.
