Thread: Fiberglass race engine tin

    Fiberglass race engine tin

I recently removed this from a motor and am not going to be re-installing it w/ the new engine. I don't want it laying around and getting beat up. I don't want to give it away, but have no idea what it's worth. Would anyone be interested in it? Better to go onto someone else's real deal - IMO. Thanks, John

Someone sent me a link to this: http://elevenparts.com/viewer.php?id...s/753/DSC01270 I know these authentic parts are valuable, but what I have here is not NOS. They were removed from the engine currently in my old '69S hill climb car. My guess is they are correct for 2.0L 'King class' engine (I have surmised that PO sold off the twin plug motor years ago and installed a 2.7 RS spec engine from his 914-6. Prob. would have sold off the tin too but then he was forced to reuse it vs. having to find/pay for some metal ones. Current engine has MFI; prior motor was prob. carb'd and the reason why I don't have the front glass tin. Maybe it was thrown away) The red cooling duct pieces are actually the same fiberglass as the tin, just painted. Remove the paint and they will be that semi-opaque yellow too.

I could put these on Ebay and someone like Marco from 11 Parts or Freisinger would buy them and resell them for a fortune to some billionaire Swiss/German. I'd like it if someone here could use them for a legit car and help me out with some parts I need. I could use some items for my '69S: Km/hr speedo, 7,200 RPM tach, period correct aftermarket steering wheel, decent dash top, twin plug ignition parts. Let me know if I can help you out and vise versa. We can also do some machine work in lew of cash too like I can twin plug a set of heads/port/hone, whatever.
