67's rear seat surround help needed.

Per Peter Morgans 'Original Porsche 911' book. "65-66 models 'uniquely' had a small 'leather' surround to the seat cushion". I have seen these surround's on 67's. One that comes to mind is the green leather Bruce Jenning car. Were these surrounds specific only to leather interior's? Morgan seems to have missed it by a year or so.

My understanding is they were unique to the 67S model, although maybe the 68L as well, not sure

My '67S had standard vinyl interior but still had the rear seat surrounds. It was not specific to a leather interior AFAIK.

Back they go to Autobaun. When I spoke with Tony today about making me a set he said they were sewn on seat bottoms. I thought it was just an insert that slipped behind the seat pad . Thanks all.

They were also used on the 68L. I have had 2 Ls and they were both 100% original and both had the rear seat surrounds. I have had a few 68 normals which none of them had the surround. If you would like I can take a few pictures of them removed if you would like to see.

    Let me know.

    If this is any help:

    pictures tomorrow.

However I will confirm that the surrounds are stitched to the seat bottoms directly. If your pulling them off you have to be careful to release the glue underneath the seat bottom as well as on the sides of the surround. The stitching is pretty fragile.

I will get you some pictures tomorrow.

    Thanks,
    Jon
